Tech Note: Linked Cast Members Don't Print

Symptom:
Cast members that are linked to a file on disk (especially a large or high-resolution file) don’t print.
Solution:
You might have to force Director to preload the cast member using the preloadCast command, before you print the member.
Also, the default memory size for "Classic" (Mac OS 8/9) projectors on the Macintosh is quite small. You might have to increase the projector’s memory usage in order to have enough memory for the projector to properly load the cast member for printing.
